The Cannonball Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross was chartered in 1917. Cannonball Trail Chapter was named after D. R. (Cannonball) Green who lived from 1839 to 1922. The pioneer operated a stage coach line between Wichita and Kingman for more than twenty years. He was nicknamed "Cannonball" because of the speed with which he drove his horse. The City of Greensburg was named after the famous stagecoach driver D. R. "Cannonball" Green.
The Chapter has been a partner with the Armed Forces and our local National Guard unit, providing emergency communications to enlisted soldiers. In their honor, we have designed a commemorative coin to express our appreciation to their serving our country currently and in the past. THEIR LEGACY AND OURS WILL CONTINUE ON FOR ANOTHER 90 YEARS! Coins are sequentially numbered and encased in a velvet blue gift box.
